Academy Director, Philip Jung

Philip Jung received his Bachelor of Piano Studies at The Juilliard School in NY, where he studied under Prof. Matti Raekallio. He then travelled to Tel-Aviv, Israel, to study under the world-renowned Professor, Arie Vardi, (the pedagogue behind Yundi Li, Yuja Wang, Yefim Bronfman among others), where he obtained his Masters of Piano Studies with a 'Magna Cum Laude'; given to the highest achiever in both academic and musical components.

Early on, Philip's musical journey began with the violin, which took him to playing Stravinsky's Violin Concerto with orchestra, but he decided that the Piano was his calling - he felt closer to the symphonic nature of the instrument.

Philip utilizes not only these two instruments when he tailors curriculums for his pupils, but articulates the importance of music theory, music harmony, and aural training alongside the respective practical components.

The mission behind 'Keytone' is to create musical minds that are able to decipher music from its absolute core, and to nurture pupils so they are able to find their own musical voices. In an era where AI is replacing the individuality and uniqueness of the world, Keytone wants to preserve the artisanal world of music making which  is crucial to maintaining our identities.

Philip performs on  a Carlo Carletti Violin/EA Ouchard bow, and a Steinway Grand Piano.
